Montague Street bridge: Another truck stuck at crash-prone spot despite new safety gantries
Another truck has wedged itself under the Montague Street rail bridge in South Melbourne.
The crash was reported just before 11:00am.
It is the latest in a series of incidents involving the bridge, which has a three-metre clearance.
In April, two trucks hit the bridge in the space of five hours.
Last month, VicRoads installed a new low-height gantry with reflective paddles in front of the bridge in an attempt to stop accidents.
The procession of accidents at the bridge has sparked interest on social media, including a parody Twitter account and website: How Many Days Since The Montague Street Bridge Has Been Hit.
Tom Waller, who set up the website, was surprised it had happened again.
"I thought that it was going to be done and dusted, I'd be able to retire the website but there we are," he told 774 ABC Melbourne.
"I'm guessing this one is a bit diferent than the others because it looks like he got halfway through the bridge and only got caught on the end of it, as opposed to the start.
"I'm guessing the back end of the bridge is ever so slightly lower than the front end of the bridge."
