Cardinal Sarah: St. Mary Magdalene shows need to recover 'primary of adoration'

Cardinal Robert Sarah has cited the example of St. Mary Magdalene as a model for Catholic spirituality, emphasizing the need to "recover the primacy of God and the primacy of adoration in the life of the Church and in the liturgical celebration."
In an article that appeared in L'Osservatore Romano on July 22, as the Church celebrated the feast of St. Mary Magdalene, Cardinal Sarah said that the life of the saint underlines the importance of adoration and a sense of mission. He argued strongly in favor of efforts to restore a sense of profound adoration to the liturgy. "This was a fundamental goal of the Second Vatican Council," he said.
This year Pope Francis declared July 22 as a full feast day, giving new prominence to the "apostle to the apostles."
