No gamble to expand Aqueduct

South Ozone Park: Re your July 11 editorial “Rolling the dice too fast”: Resorts World New York Casino at Aqueduct is an important part of our local community here in Queens. When the casino arrived in 2011, its owners promised to keep an open dialogue with us at every step, and I am pleased to say they have delivered on their promise. Resorts World has steadily delivered a strong source of employment opportunities, giving members in the community a stable source of reliable income. The casino at Aqueduct has also given back to the community by supplying over a billion dollars to our local schools here in Queens and throughout New York.

Supporting Resorts World Casino is something I’m proud of. In the years ahead, Resorts World plans on expanding to allow the casino to engage in different projects that will help benefit the local community and state. The funding received for the projects will create numerous employment opportunities that will be spurred by the creation of a new 400-room hotel, spa and resort area, and convention center. This will ultimately produce even more jobs.

The South Ozone Park Civic Association West gives Resorts World Casino our full support. They have spurred economic development, provided employment opportunities and openly worked with our community ensuring a constant flow of communication. I wish nothing but success for Resorts World in the years to come. Anthony J. Gellineau

Borrowed words

Fairfield, Conn.: Joe Biden was guilty of plagiarism in law school and given a second chance by Syracuse University. How about we lighten up about Melania Trump’s usage of a few sentences in a convention speech that were similar to those in a speech by Michelle Obama, which at the time was believed to have been lifted from Saul Alinsky? Don’t throw stones, Dems, if your house is made of glass! Michael Caserta

Ted vs. The Maniac

Spring Lake Heights, N.J.: As a lifelong Dem voting for Hillary, I will vote for Ted Cruz if he runs again because he had the courage to stand up to The Maniac. Go, Ted. Mary Elizabeth Fitzpatrick

Making the printed news fit

Bronx: Voicer Jesus Linares wants “a real paper, fair and balanced.” Whoever said that the Daily News should be fair and balanced? Remember, “fair and balanced” does not sell newspapers. If you want fair and balanced and the truth, try Fox News. By the way, Hillary Clinton is spending hundreds of millions on her presidential campaign and she does need all the help she can get, even if it means eight more years of Obama’s policies. Raymond Cote

The Clinton challenge

East Brunswick, N.J.: It never ceases to amaze me, when I see the Daily News on the table at work, how the paper is becoming more and more like a liberal college paper than a professionally written, objective reporter of the news. The language you put on your front page, where children can see it, is bad enough; but your coverage of the Republican National Convention was so far to the left it could almost make the most liberal New Yorker stand up and cry foul. I can’t wait until the Democratic Convention begins. Will your coverage be just as vile against Clinton or will you shoot sunshine up her butt and make her look more like a girl scout than the venomous serpent she is? C’mon, Daily News. This is a challenge, you up for it? Lisa Maniaci

A light in a dark world

Flushing: Just finished “Night” by Elie Wiesel. A must read. God bless America. Ann Shannon

Rudy and race

Staten Island: Kudos to Rudy Giuliani. He is the only one who speaks the truth about racism. There is only one race that creates racism, and if you cowards listen, you will hear the truth instead of avoiding it. John Shaughnessy

Black lives and blue uniforms

Brooklyn: Thank you for “Facts matter most of all” (editorial, July 12). As an attorney, I have reviewed the acts (and failures to act) of thousands of police officers, peace officers and municipal employees over the last 30 years. If there is one thing I have learned, it is this: Facts always matter. It is the lawyer’s job to ferret them out to the extent possible. (And it is not always possible.) Jane N. Barrett

Who is killing whom?

Little Neck: The Daily News ran on its front page the names of black people killed by police. I would like to know if you have the guts to put on the front page the names of every police officer who was killed by a black man. It would cover two pages! John Hughes

Family values do matter

Middle Village: The biggest reason for the growing problem of crime and violence in our communities is the breakdown of family values: unwed mothers, promiscuity, no self-respect. Proper upbringing as a family, and faith in God, are a must. Churches are becoming less crowded, and jails are overcrowded. Doesn’t anyone see this besides me? Bernice Chorzepa

Mr. Mets Magic

Bayside: I would like to say that the Mets manager is a magician, all of his moves seem to work. Mr. Terry Collins, we are lucky to have you. A Mets fan. Joey Murad

Noise-polluting jingle

Bay Shore, L.I.: On July 10, I went with friends to a scheduled concert at Forest Park in Queens. We were horrified because the Mr. Softee truck that was parked at the curb by the gate near the bandshell was playing that disgusting theme song every two minutes. Neither the band nor the singers could drown it out. It is a shame that no one had the guts to go over to him and tell him to stop playing it during the performance. There was no way he did not hear the music. There was also a picnic going on that at least during the performance shut their mikes and salsa music off, butthen resumed blasting again from a very large sound system. I guess these people all over the park wanted to hear their music. I guess they don’t have noise control at this park. These loud doings spoiled the entire evening for all of us. Rochelle Davidson

No wonder for this woman

Lansdowne, Pa.: Of course Voicer Lynda Carter is sympathetic to druggies, being a pathetic ex-alcoholic herself. Certainly the drug buyers deserve jail, they enable their friends; I guess she blames Jack Daniels for her problems, not herself. Jack forced her to buy that bottle! Remember when her husband was on trial with Clark Clifford? She was in the courtroom mugging up a storm and the judge never threw her out. She was always more beauty than brains or talent. By the way, I believe that slippery Mexican drug lord El Chapo should have been hung from the nearest tree upon his last capture. Why take the chance idiots will put him on the ground floor of a jail yet again? Georgia Makiver

It takes all to add housing

Manhattan: Re “NYCHA to seek nonprofits for building plan” (July 21): As New York’s affordable housing crisis becomes more urgent, every resource must be used to meet this challenge. Both for-profit and non-profit affordable housing developers have a role to play in meeting the fast-growing demand for low-income housing. A small group of critics, backed by construction unions, believe for-profit developers should be barred from affordable housing. However, they ignore the vital role for-profit developers play in producing affordable units. One for-profit developer, BFC Partners, will soon build a 100% affordable development in Fort Greene and provide 145 apartments for low-income seniors who make less than $38,000 per year. With a partnership with the non-profit SAGE, it will be the nation’s largest affordable senior development with LGBT services. There is a reason that our members include both for-profit and non-profit developers — both are equally committed to addressing the housing crisis, and both are needed to meet the growing demand. Anyone who argues otherwise is just not taking this issue seriously. Jolie Milstein, President and CEO, New York State Association for Affordable Housing (NYSAFAH)

Safety first at the beach

Manhattan: Now that the summer is upon us, we all like to go to the beach and take a swim to cool off. Beware of the undertow when you are in the water. To save yourself from drowning, swim parallel to the beach and you will be safe. Mike Russo

Play it straight

Brooklyn: You would think that after the horrible incident in Orlando, that the homosexuals would repent of their disgusting sins. Instead, their horrible, unnatural behavior is being promoted. Wanda Lucci
