Police mark evidence at the scene of a shooting at the Clark Brands gas station at 38th and Oxford streets on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.

Update: Police arrested a man in connection with a shooting that injured two people at a northeast-side gas station Tuesday.

Trevell Patton, 21, was in the Marion County Jail Wednesday on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery, records show. Patton, police say, shot Lavon Beverly, 31, about 2 p.m. at the Clark gas station in the 2900 block of East 38th Street.

Police said debris from the gunshots injured Kaycie Glenn, 22.

Beverly was critically injured and taken to Eskanazi Hospital, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department news release.

The shooting stemmed from an argument between Patton and Beverly, police said. Police were looking for the driver of a black Chevrolet Impala who was seen leaving the gas station shortly after the shooting.

Earlier: A shooting Tuesday afternoon at a gas station on Indianapolis' northeast side spurred a series of emergency responses.

Just after 2 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Clark Brands gas station at 38th and Oxford streets, IMPD officer Jim Gillespie said.

When they arrived, Gillespie said, officers found multiple bullet casings but no victims.

Police think two gunshot victims, a man and a woman, left the gas station after the confrontation.

The man was found a block away at 38th and Rural streets, Gillespie said, and the woman was found more than a mile away at 34th Street and Sherman Drive.

"From what I understand, both of those persons that were shot were originally here at the Clark station, and then after the incident they both left the scene," Gillespie said. "So it's put out additional crime scenes for us to check on, to collect evidence, so it's just a large area for us to cover at this point in time."

Both victims were transported by ambulance to Eskenazi Hospital, Gillespie said, where they are listed as stable.

While transporting one of the victims, EMS official Carl Rochelle said, an ambulance was involved in a head-on collision with a pickup truck.

Authorities investigate after an ambulance carrying a gunshot victim collided with a pickup truck Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Keystone Avenue and 24th Street.

Two other vehicles had collided near 24th Street and Keystone Avenue, Rochelle said. The ambulance swerved to avoid that accident and struck the pickup.

At the time of the collision, an Indianapolis Fire Department firefighter was driving the ambulance, Rochelle said. Another firefighter and two EMS officials were in the back, treating the gunshot victim.

None of the emergency responders was injured in the accident, Rochelle said.

Another ambulance arrived to transport the victim to Eskenazi.

IMPD is investigating the shooting and the accident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-8477.
