German media outlets initally reported an explosion that was caused by a bag of aerosols.

Breaking news reports at the time suggested that the suitcase was filled with spray cans and then detonated in a garden near to the migration centre.

Witnesses informed local media that several people fled from the scene with some describing them as "Arab-looking," although this has not been confirmed.

It is not currently known if the failed explosion was linked to the recent spate of terror attacks in Germany.

If confirmed as an attempted terror attack would be the fifth attack in five days.

It follows the explosion at a music festival, the shootings in Munich and the axe attack on the train.
