Log truck driver dies following mishap near Mackenzie

A log truck driver died in hospital earlier this month after going off a resource road near Mackenzie, the B.C. Forest Safety Council said in an online posting.

A log truck driver died in hospital earlier this month after going off a resource road near Mackenzie, the B.C. Forest Safety Council said in an online posting.

"The truck was travelling down a muddy hill when the trailer went off the road, taking the tractor with it," BCFSC said.

The incident occurred on Aug. 8 and the driver died in hospital 10 days later.

WorkSafeBC, the RCMP and the Coroners Service are investigating, BCFSC said.

The driver's name was not provided.

It was the fourth death involving a log truck this year, according to the BCFSC. They include an incident near Fraser Lake in January. The other two occurred betweeen Princeton and Merritt, also in January, and in Harrision Mills, also in August.
