MaGIC Academy gathers more than 2,000 at startup symposium

    PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC), which concluded the four-day MaGIC Academy Symposium 2016 (MA2016) last Saturday, gathered more than 2,000 aspiring entrepreneurs, startups, social entrepreneurs and jobseekers for the region’s most comprehensive startup symposium.
    The symposium featured leading industry experts and opportunities for sharpening skills through the 120 different workshop sessions, as well as practical knowledge through interaction with startups participating in the career fair.
    Startups at every growth stage participated in workshops and received insightful content in Entrepreneurship and Social Enterprise from keynote speakers such as Girls in Tech founder & CEO Adriana Gascoigne, Digg founder & CEO Gary Liu, Digi-X chief digital officer Praveen Rajan, Kad Africa founder Eric Kaduru, Gawad Kalinga founder Tony Meloto, FashionValet CEO Fadzarudin Anuar and many more.
    MA2016 concluded with one of the largest startup career fairs in the region, hosted in collaboration with Tech in Asia. More than 100 companies, such as Zalora Malaysia, Piktochart, Kaodim, KFit, Money Lion and Honestbee provided more than 1,000 candidates with a first-hand taste of the startup industry.
    MaGIC Academy started in 2014 as MaGIC Startup Academy, which aims to provide entrepreneurs an opportunity to take part in workshops and courses led by some of the most experienced domain experts from Malaysia and around the world.
