Paris Show stars that you'll soon see in Ireland

As always, many of the cars on show will have already made their public debut through pre-show preview or spy shots.

There are always a few surprises and well-kept secrets, but here are the main ones to look out for.

Alfa Romeo will show a new 'warm spec' Giulia to rival the Audi S4 and BMW 335i with AWD standard. It will have a choice of petrol or diesel engine.

Audi will reveal its new Q5, due here relatively soon. It's 100kg lighter and is said to be packed with in-car technology.

BMW's X2 will be shown as a concept but is due on sale later in 2017 and will share lots with the X1 to rival the likes of the Range Rover Evoque. Will we see the new 5-series?

Citroën will show its Cxperience concept executive saloon which has a plug-in hybrid petrol-electric powertrain, loads of technology and the company's Advanced Comfort programme.

We've already reported on the C3, due for January sales. The next C3 Picasso will echo designs from the C4 Cactus.

The brand will put its rallying expertise to good use with the C3-based WRC concept, which will eventually spawn a Ford Fiesta ST rival.

Dacia are showing their facelifted Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Logan MCV. There are new headlights, grilles and cabin materials.

Ferrari are making 350 special editions to celebrate their 70th anniversary. The GT4C Lusso T, V8 will make its world debut. It pumps 602bhp. An open-top LaFerrari Aperta is also expected (950bhp, V12).

Honda will officially reveal the next Civic which is longer, wider and lower. Due here next year.

Hyundai will unveil their new i30 hatch which is due next spring. It will be made as a 5dr, estate and 4dr coupé.

The hot-hatch version i30N will also be shown. It has a 2-litre turbocharged engine and will rival the Volkswagen Golf GTi and Ford Focus ST.

We reported on the Infiniti 2-litre petrol engine that promises "diesel economy and V6 power and smoothness" some time back. Well, it debuts in Paris too.

Jeep's new Compass compact Crossover has just made its world debut in Brazil ahead of Paris for some reason. It goes on sale in Ireland during the second half of 2017.

Kia will debut its Rio 5dr hatch. Expect the 1-litre turbo 3cyl from the cee'd - and there will be a GT-badged hot hatch.

Their Soul 1.6 T-GDi turbo (201bhp) will debut too. The Carens gets a mid-life revision.

The fifth generation of the Land Rover Discovery will be one of the big launches. It will be less blocky, with a distinctly upmarket cabin. It goes on sale here next year. It will also shed weight as it will have a bonded and riveted aluminium monocoque set-up that currently underpins the Range Rover/Sport.

Lexus will have their UX coupé-crossover concept - and the Kinetic Seat Concept.

Mercedes will show their AMG-GT and GT C roadsters in the metal for the first time. They will also show their electric SUV concept based on the GLC. It is being heralded as the first of four electric vehicles before 2020.

The AMG GLC 43 Coupé - with 352bhp - will also be revealed. And their E-Class All Terrain motor means the Audi A6 Allroad and Volvo V90 Cross Country have a new rival. It's got an extra 35mm ground clearance and 4WD. On sale next spring.

MINI will have their Clubman JCW - the most powerful version of compact estate to date.

Mitsubishi's Ground Tourer Concept plug-in hybrid crossover may be a preview of greater things to come. They are also bringing the eX - a 2020 electric-only small crossover.

Nissan have radically changed the look of the new Micra - it echoes the Sway concept from the Geneva show.

Opel's new Insignia will also be shown - it's bigger (longer wheelbase) but lighter. On sale next year. They will also have the Ampera-e electric vehicle.

Peugeot have a big display lined up. Their 3008 people carrier is now officially an SUV. It has the latest i-Cockpit dash technology and there are new 1.2-litre and 1.6-litre petrols.

The new 7-seater 5008 SUV also debuts. It is expected here next year. It's the same height (1.64m), 11cm longer (to 4.64m) and 11cm wider. It too gets the latest i-Cockpit technology. And there will be the 3008 DKR race car.

Porsche will give the new Panamera saloon its public debut and the Panamera Sport Turismo (shooting brake).

Among the new engines are a turbo 2.9-litre V6, 4-litre V8 diesel and twin-turbo 4-litre V8. Due early 2017.

Renault's Alaskan pick-up goes on stage too and will eventually wend its way here. It will have a 187bhp 4cyl diesel.

They will also show off a concept car highlighting technology's role in how future models will look and drive. And the facelifted Koleos will be shown.

SEAT's Ateca X-Perience is another concept - though there are strong rumours it will make it to production. It is powered by a 2-litre diesel and has the Haldex 4WD system.

Big things are expected of Skoda's seven-seat SUV the Kodiaq. It's expected in Ireland by the Spring.

SsangYong picks up pace with its new Rexton SUV. A rival for the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, it will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel.

Suzuki's Ignis is a small crossover to vie for buyers with the FIAT Panda 4x4. It will be on sale quite soon.

I've already driven the revised SX4 S-Cross (see Page 2) which arrives imminently.

Toyota's C-HR has barely changed since Geneva and is due here in November. (See Page 2 for prices).

The FCV Plus concept car will also be on display. It's a vision of a future hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle. And the plug-in version of the Prius will make its European debut.

Volkswagen will show a new electric vehicle but sale is a long way off (2019). The Tiguan long-wheelbase version debuts too. It's 110mm longer and is expected next year.
