An Indiana State Police trooper stopped a semi for a routine safety inspection Thursday evening on I-70 in Putnam County. He stopped to chat with the driver, and sniffed an overwhelming scent of yellow mustard.

The truck, though, was transporting television parts.

So the trooper searched the cab of the semi, a news release from the Indiana State Police said, and found packaged mustard — concealing 48 pounds of marijuana.

The driver, Richard Sherman, 52, of California, was arrested on suspicion of dealing in marijuana. He is being held in the Putnam County Jail.

The marijuana is estimated to have a street value of $200,000, the news  release said.

The truck was traveling from California to Pennsylvania.
