OKLAHOMA CITY – Just in time for Oklahoma’s 109th birthday, which is Nov. 16, a new interactive exhibit opens to the public called “Picture Yourself.”

The interactive exhibit is all about exploring Oklahoma’s rich history and culture.

From riding a bucking bronco, to forecasting the weather and floating in space, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame has captured many moments in Oklahoma history.

“I like the pictures because you can be a rodeo star and be on the moon,” 8-year-old Braden Sequoyah Cusick said.

“We want this to inspire the younger generation to identify with any of these people that are represented within the cases and realize that could be one day,” Director Of Museum Experience Marissa Raglin said.

Along with being a rodeo star, visitors can also predict the ever-changing Oklahoma weather and see vintage technology from the National Weather Museum and Science Center out of Norman.

Visitors can even have their own air or space adventure.

“I’m walking into the International Space Station, within this vignette, of course all of these vignettes have props,” said Raglin.

The exhibit is a fun way for everyone to learn about our state’s most historic faces.

“Oklahomans have been the first, the best and the only in so many fields of work and if you’re from a rural environment or urban area there’s someone that has gone before you that’s done something amazing,” Museum President & CEO Shannon Rich said.

The “Picture Yourself” exhibit opens to the public Saturday during the Statehood Day festival, which runs from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m..  The festival is free and open to the public.

The museum will also unveil six new portraits of the newest inductees of the 89th Oklahoma Hall of Fame class, which includes Russell Westbrook.
