BHUBANESWAR: A group of eight dacoits on Monday fled with around Rs 3 lakh at gun point from Odisha Gramya Bank’s Gadanrusinghpur branch under Bhuban police limits in Dhenkanal district.
According to reports, the dacoits came on four bikes and entered the bank at around 1 pm. They created fear psychosis in the bank by showing guns to the officials and customers. In a filmy style, they locked the customers at a room and then asked the bank manager to give key of the locker.
The manager was thrashed by the dacoits when he refused to follow their order.
After getting keys, they got the money from the bank locker and immediately left the spot. All this happened within 10 minutes, said the police.
The police reached the bank and inquired the bank officials and people present over there about the dacoits. “We have alerted other police stations about the incident. During our search operation, one of the miscreants was nabbed by our team near Kaliapani in Jajpur district. Police have started interrogating the person to trace other members of the gang,” said Kamakhyanagar SDPO Sk Abdul Karim.
He said the police have started a manhunt to nab the culprits. “Some professional dacoits are involved in the robbery. We will trace out them very soon,” said Karim.
