Observing how it was once all praises for the development of the Aravalli Biodiversity park, the Delhi High Court on Monday asked the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to check any unauthorised tree felling there.
‘Check encroachment’
“We direct the DDA to check any encroachment or illegal tree felling in the Aravalli Biodiversity park,” said a Bench headed by Justice B.D. Ahmed.
“If any encroachment or illegal tree felling is found, the same must be stopped,” said the Bench.
“We were once praising the DDA for developing this park. Don’t force us to now...,” said the Bench, stopping short of pulling up the DDA. Further, the Bench noted that photographs of illegal activities happening inside the park had been presented during the hearing of a case concerning pollution levels in the Capital.
Earlier, the Bench had banned all unregulated construction in Delhi. It had also called for a check on burning of waste and straw.
