As the northern plains continued to reel under intense cold conditions, Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate N P Singh today ordered closure of all schools from nursery to 12th standard till January 15.
NOIDA: The Gautam Budh Nagar district administration on Thursday ordered that the classes in all schools up to class XII be shut till January 15 due to the cold weather.
District magistrate NP Singh said that the decision has been taken as there is no relief from the chilling temperature in the last few days. “All the schools affiliated to boards of CBSE, ICSE, and UP government, shall remain closed as per the order.
We will monitor the weather conditions and issue further directions in this regard,” he told TOI.
Earlier, the administration had ordered for closure of classes from nursery to VIII till January 11. The extension of holidays is important as the city is witnessing freezing cold in the last few days. On Thursday, Noida recorded the minimum temperatures at 5.3 degree Celsius and maximum at 16.7 degree Census.
The school managements said that they have received the information from the district magistrate’s office about closure. “We will close the school as per the directions of the district magistrate. The schools will reopen on January 16,” said an official of Amity International School, Noida.
The parents have also welcomed the move saying it was necessary. Niti Shrivastava, president of Gautam Budh Nagar Parents Association, said that the temperature in the NCR cities are falling down for the last few days and it is a welcome step. “We appreciate this decision and it is good for the safety of students,” she said.
