High Court directs CBI to furnish progress report in Pratapgarh cop murder case
Allahabad high court.
LUCKNOW: The High Court on Tuesday directed the CBI to furnish, within two weeks, the progress report in inspector Anil kumar murder case in Pratapgarh. The court expressed concern that the probe has not been started yet by the CBI even after state government's recommendation.
A bench of justice Ajai Lamba and justice Vijai Laxmi passed the order on the petition moved by the widow of the inspector, Arti Gujar.
Her counsel Krishna Kumar Singh submitted in the court that on November 15, 2015, a powerful minister in the state government had threatened the inspector of dire consequences. He also said the state government had recommended the case to CBI probe on January 1, 2016, but no progress has been made in the investigation till date.
Inspector Anil was posted in the City Kotwali. He was shot dead on November 15, 2015. His brother had lodged the FIR of the murder. The police had then said that the murder took place when the inspector tried to intervene to resolve some dispute between two parties.
