As Uttar Pradesh gears to hold the fourth phase of its assembly elections on Thursday, political parties are keeping up their fierce campaigns in districts that are going to polls in subsequent phases. Campaigning for the Congress- Samajwadi Party alliance, UP Chief Minsiter Akhilesh Yadav held a public rally in Bahraich, which will vote in the fifth phase on February 27. Bharatiya Janta Party president Amit Shah is holding four public meetings in Sultanpur, Azamgarh and Gorakhpur districts — all of which will vote in the sixth phase on March 4. The seventh and final phase of polls in UP will be held on March 8.

5.00pm: “The current elections is very important. The people of Uttar Pradesh have given them (BJP) so much but rather than bringing achhe din then snatched everything you had. They took away your land, your job and your hard earned money,” wrote Sonia Gandhi in a letter.
3.53pm: “Hum zimmedaari se PM ko kehte hain khao Ganga maiyya ki kasam ki hum Kashi mein 24 ghante bijli de rahein hain ki nahi de rahe, (We are responsibly asking PM Modi to take an oath on Mother Ganga and say that we are not providing 24-hour electricity in Kashi),” said Akhilesh.

3.30pm: “People across the country have begun addressing Bharatiya Janata Party as Bharatiya Jumla Party,” said Mayawati.
3.24pm: BSP chief Mayawati addresses election rally in Faizabad. “If BJP comes to power in the elections, all reservations will go away, have got information from sources,” said the BSP supremo.
