SRIKAKULAM: A nine-year old child died after being hit by a speeding van in Tekkali town in Srikakulam district Monday morning. The incident happened when the kid was going to school.
The deceased was identified as Simhadri Dinesh (9), a class IV student of a private school in Tekkali.
According to sources, Simhadri Dinesh, resident of NTR Colony in Tekkali, started to school at around 8.30am. At around 8.45am, he was hit by a Bolero near the Tekkali main road and died on the spot due to head injuries. The two persons in the vehicle fled from the spot.
