AGRA: A school bus ferrying over 40 students turned turtle into wheat field in a remote village of Etah district on Tuesday morning, injuring half of them.
The incident took place near Uderi village of Awagarh area on narrow non-metallic road at around 7 am, while the bus was heading for city convent school.
According to police, 20 students were injured, after which they were taken to a local community health centre.

“The accident took place just 300 meters away from Uderi village. We rushed to save our kids and found them trapped inside the bus, while the driver was missing,” said Sunil, father of a injured student.
Speaking to TOI, senior superintendent of police Satyarth Aniruddha Pankaj said, “Only one student suffered fracture in his right arm, while the rest other received minor injury.”
“The incident occurred in the morning hours when the bus was on its way to the school and its driver lost control over the vehicle and it overturned. After the incident, the driver identified as Ravi Yadav fled away from the spot leaving injured students in bus,” he said.

Adding further he said, “We will file two FIRs against the convent school management and driver. Our initial investigation suggest that the accused bus driver was inexperienced and was brought in by the convent school in place of another driver who had left the job after a salary dispute with the management.”
Several attempts were made to contact the city convent school management, but no response was received.
Last month, 12 students were killed in a school bus road accident in Aliganj area of Etah district.
