Stuck for ideas for what to do with the kids this weekend? We've rounded up some of the best events that North Wales has to offer into one handy guide.

This weekend there are lots of family-friendly musical events, plenty of activities to get you all out in the fresh air, and several sessions of crafty fun.

And if you are planning to see Beauty and the Beast, there are a couple of themed events going on too.

1. Next Level 2

Where: Venue Cymru, Llandudno

When: March 19, 12.15 - 6pm

Cost: £10 plus booking fee. A child under 13 goes free if accompanied by an adult.

Six hours of great music from nine great acts. tvwales.co.uk presents Next Level, an indoor music festival promoting welsh talent and nationally emerging acts.

The headline act is Daisy Clark, who just has been signed by Warner Records when her YouTube performance went viral with 12 million hits. She has recently been featured in national news and appeared on ITV breakfast show Lorraine.

North Wales' Retro Youth will also be performing - who have been described as “the next big breakthrough” by Rocksound Magazine have previously supported Catfish & The Bottlemen. Having just returned from their hugely successful UK tour, the band will be playing back in their homeland and promoting their newly released debut album, B.R.A.V.E.

The event will operate just like an outdoor music festival, with performances across several different stages and attendees free to come and go as they please throughout the day. An ideal first introduction to the world of live music and festival events. The venue will have a buffet menu that will be open throughout the event.

Next Level is a non-profit event and all tickets sold will raise funds for the local homelessness charity, Hope Restored.

2. A Musical Journey – from planet Earth and into space

Where: Pontio, Bangor

When: March 18, from 2.30pm

Cost: £6 each or £20 for a family of 4.

BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Pontio present an interactive participatory family workshop, celebrating Bangor Science Festival 2017.

Join musicians from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales on an adventure with plenty of opportunities for fun, dancing and joining in. Before launching into outer space, we will leave Bangor by train and then sail across the sea to our launch pad. In space who knows where we might go. We will visit strange planets and meet bizarre aliens. Watch out for those asteroid fields because the journey could be bumpy!

Features a bilingual Spaceship Song and the chance to let your imagination take you to the far reaches of the universe.

Suitable for ages 5 and up.

There is also a free creative workshop in partnership with Bangor Science Festival inspired by the space theme follows the show.

3. Beauty and the Beast Afternoon Tea

Where: Ynys Môn Cakery, Holyhead

When: March 18 & 19 - several sessionas available

Cost: £10 pp - Beauty & The Beast Afternoon tea & Belle Experience

£10pp - Breakfast with Belle

The cakery are hosting their first ever Beauty and the Beast themed breakfast and afternoon tea. Visitors will be able to dine with Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs Potts, Chip and of course a real life Belle. There will also be sessions where Belle will not be in attendance.

There will be sandwiches and cakes galore, and those lucky enough to join the breakfast sessions will be able to enjoy some yummy waffles, toast, scrambled egg and beans - and cakes to follow.

Each group will last an hour and the cakery will also cater for special dietary requirements but this will need to be ordered at the time of booking.

A £5 deposit is required upon booking.

At the time of writing, only the 9-10am Breakfast with Belle session had availability on the Saturday.

Bookings for the Sunday sessions (without Belle) are still being taken.

4. Little Diggers Club: Mothers Day Gift Making

Cost: £4.95 per child

Head on over to Fron Goch for a lovely craft session that aims to creatively introduce children to gardening and nature.

This week, the kids will be getting hands on and making some gifts ready for Mother’s Day.

All materials are provided and staff will be ready to help with the creations and to offer guidance.

The workshop is recommended for children aged 5-10 years old and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Price includes a regular tea or coffee for the grown ups from the UK’s best garden centre restaurant.

Booking in advance is highly recommended as spaces are limited.

5. The Teeny Weeny Tadpole story telling and activities

Where: RSPB Conwy, Llandudno Junction

When: March 19, 11am - 12.15pm

Cost: Wildlife Explorers £3, non-members £4, £2 for accompanying non-member adults

So what do tadpoles turn into? Enjoy this tadpole story before heading off to look for tadpoles on the nature reserve.

This session is suitable for children aged 3-6 years. Be sure to wear suitable clothing and appropriate footwear.

6. Hickory’s Beauty and the Beast Breakfast

Where: Hickory’s Smokehouse, Rhos on Sea

When: March 19 9am-12pm

Cost: £3.95 per child £6.95 per adult

Book in for breakfast and brunch with unlimited pancakes accompanied by Belle and Prince Adam.

There will be great photo opportunities and of course the 1991 Disney animated classic will be playing in the Cinema Room too.

7. BBC NOW Family Concert

Where: Venue Cymru, Llandudno

When: March 19 from 3pm

Cost: £15 plus booking fee

Take a journey into classical music with BBC National Orchestra of Wales’ ever popular family concert.

Discover the incredible sounds of the Orchestra through music from the big screen alongside popular classics guaranteed to have you conducting along.

It’s the perfect introduction to the orchestra for all ages.

And from 2.15pm and during the interval, you will be able to try out some of the instruments too.

8. Lego Batman

Where: CellB, Blaenau Ffestiniog

When: March 18 at 12pm & March 19 at 2pm

Cost: Adults: £6 children £5

This weekend at CellB - the big screen in the small town - will be showing the box office smash Lego Batman.

In the world of Lego, Bruce Wayne must not only deal with the criminals of Gotham City, but also the responsibility of raising a boy he adopted - while keeping his alter ego identity a secret.

9. Behind the scenes tours: National and rare collections

Some of South East Asias rarest and most unusual species have gone on display with thousands of tropical plants inside the UKs largest indoor zoo exhibit at Chester Zoo - A Ylang

Join our Botany and Horticulture team at Chester Zoo who will take you on a one hour behind the scenes tour of the plant nursery to show you how they cultivate and care for the national plant collection and other rare plants.

10. Primrose Walk

Cost: £3 each

Join the Plas Newydd Gardener on a spring primrose walk around the grounds of the historical house. You will be able to stroll through the gardens and along the beautiful riverside walk.

The building is closed until April, but the gardens are a delight themselves.

The price of the walk includes a lovely Plas Newydd primrose to take home with you.

There is a small number of parking spaces in site, and some nearby public car parks a short walk away.

11. Early bird castle tours: Delve into the detail

Where: Penrhyn Castle, Bangor

When: March 17 & 18, 10.30am - 12pm

Cost: The tour is free but general admission to the castle applies

Take advantage of new morning tours to explore the finer details behind Penrhyn through its architecture, collection and history.

New for 2017 - the castle will be opening their gates earlier and as an added bonus will also be offering you the chance to take a look inside the Castle before it officially opens for the day.

Perfect for any aspiring prince or princess - or those with an interest in history and architecture.

The tour topics and routes will vary by session. Each tour has limited availability. You will need to book at the Visitor Centre on arrival.

Assistance dogs are welcome, and some tours may include spiral staircases - be sure to check with the team on arrival.

12. Craft activities - Gweithgareddau crefft

Where: South Arcade business and events, Wrexham

When: March 18, 10am - 3pm

Cost: Free

The folks at Arts Connection / Cyswllt Celf are hosting their free craft session this weekend. There will be lots of arts and crafts activities to enjoy, and all materials will be provided. There is no need to book, just drop in on the day.

If you can’t make it this weekend, the group is held every Saturday at the same venue.

13. Portffolio: artist-led masterclass for 14-18 yr olds

Where: Mostyn Gallery, Llandudno

When: March 18 11am - 5pm

Cost: £12.50

Does your teenager have an interest in art? Mostyn holds its Portffolio session this weekend - and will focus on life drawing.

Aimed at students in the area aged between 14 and 18, the programme sets out to nurture and support more able and talented students.

This workshop will introduce students to working from a model. It will teach the fundamentals of drawing and how this discipline benefits artists working in all other art forms.

Students will be looking at how to measure and create the illusion of form by drawing both accurately and expressively.

The session will be led by Jonathan Brier, a self-taught oil painter from Yorkshire now living in North Wales.

All materials are provided and are included in the cost.

14. Erddig Spring Garden

Where: Erddig, Wrexham

When: March 18 & 19, 11am - 4pm

Cost: Event is free but normal admission charges apply

If you want to get out of the house and into the fresh air, visit the 13.5-acre gardens at Erddig as waves of spring highlights wash over the garden.

First to arrive are snowdrops, then a blaze of daffodils by the canal followed by the delicate Snake's Head Fritillary at Easter time. Erddig’s trained fruit tree blossom paves the way for a dazzling display of thousands of bold ruby red tulips on the Victorian parterre.

A beautiful day out for the whole at one of the National Trusts finest gardens - there’s always something new to see. The garden is accessible for both pushchairs and wheelchairs with gravelled pathways.

15. March Manouche Festival

Where: Menai Bridge, Anglesey

When: March 17 - 19.

Cost: Various tickets available - under 14s go free

The sounds of swing music and gypsy jazz will fill the air in Menai Bridge this weekend.

From Friday, March 17, the third annual March Manouche Festival will bring two days of 1930s jazz music to the Anglesey town - plus instrumental workshops and impromptu jam sessions in several of the local venues.

The event features some of Britain’s top jazz artists, and this year will see the festivals first international acts. Familiar faces will include North Wales locals Andy MacKenzie, Greg Robley, Billy Thompson and Sarah Barnwell.

Remi Harris, widely regarded as one of the UK’s top Gypsy Jazz Guitarists, will close the festival with a lively set on Sunday night.

Families are welcome at this musical event - and children under 14 go free.
