The VFW Post has partnered with giveanhour.org, that provides complementary and confidential services to veterans in mental crisis. The camp will be divided to age and skill level, so the content of the camp as well as the intensity will be structured to meet the varying needs of the different participants. The cost is $25. SUMMER DAY CAMP Monday-Friday, June 19-Aug. 12, at the Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department, 1600 Fisher St. The Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department sponsors an eight-week Summer Camp Program for children ages 3-12. Camp staff supervises daily activities and field trips. The department promotes fun recreational and educational activities in the daily program of games, sports, arts and crafts and field trips. The program operates from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pre-camp runs from Monday-Friday, June 12-16, Post Camp 1 runs from Monday-Friday, Aug.14-18 and Post Camp 2 will be Monday-Friday, Aug.21-25 at a cost of $60 per week for Morehead City residents and $90 per week for non-city residents.
BRITISH SOCCER CAMP Monday-Friday, July 17-21, at the Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department, 1600 Fisher St. The camp will offer soccer experience with international staff focused on teaching skills and character to youth ages 3-16. Concentration will be placed on establishing agility, balance and coordination skills, as well as soccer skills such as shooting, tackling and dribbling. The camp will be divided to age and skill level, so the content of the camp as well as the intensity will be structured to meet the varying needs of the different participants. Divisions are: Mini Soccer: 3-5 years, 5:15-6:45 p.m. $112; Golden Goal, 8-16 years, 1-3 p.m. $45; Half-Day, 6-12 years, 9 a.m. to noon, $136; and Advance Player, 9-16 years, 9 a.m. to noon, $136. SOUND TO SEA PAINT OUT AND ART SHOW AND SALE Friday-Sunday, Oct. 6-8, on Emerald Isle. This event is hosted by Irene Bailey Fine Art Portraits, sponsored by the Oil Painters of America and supported by the Seaside Arts Council. This event is free to artists. Artist find places to paint on Emerald Isle or surrounding area on Saturday. Some home owners who want their view painted will be given to artist with maps and name tags Friday night at registration social at Irene Bailey’s Studio. Artists will also have their canvases stamped for the people’s choice cash award on Sunday at the Art Show and Sale. The paintings must be hangable. All artists whether they paint Plein Air or not, are invited to exhibit and sell their work at the Art Show on Sunday. Participants need to register Friday night.
