Allow me to introduce you to Samantha, who's not a regular sex doll. She's an ~artificially intelligent~ sex doll, one who "listens to you, talks to you, is romantic with you and makes love to you," according to Samantha's maker, Spanish company Synthea Amatus.

The creator behind the doll is Barcelona-based engineer Sergi Santos, who says he programmed Samantha to "want" romantic connection before you get sexual with her. "Basically she likes to be touched," Santos told Ruptly TV. "She has different modes of interaction ― she has romantic, she has family and she has also sexy modes."

Samantha's touch sensors signal when her user is touching her "romantically," for example holding her hand. When her user is touching her sexually, she goes into "sexual mode." "Normally she likes to be kissed always and also she responds to, basically, the G-spot and also the breasts,” Santos said. “She also responds to the hands ... The final objective of the sexual mode is to give her an orgasm." Yes, Samantha can fake a climax like the rest of us.

Samantha has an emotional side, too: in the video above, she utters such charming phrases as "Will you leave me? Don't leave me, please!" and "Alexa, play love songs on Pandora." After this second statement, the female sex- and emotion-providing doll Samantha and the female digital assistant Alexa interact, the Ed Sheeran ballad "Perfect" starts to play, and I guess that's pretty much what the future looks like. If you want this future now, you can shell out the euro equivalent of $5,374 for a Samantha of your very own.
