Three killed in road accident in Chittoor district

Three people including a two year old girl died and three others were seriously injured in a road accident at Lakshmaiah Kandriga village of Yadamari mandal of Chittoor district.

TIRUPATI: Three people including a two year old girl died and three others were seriously injured in a road accident at Lakshmaiah Kandriga village of Yadamari mandal of Chittoor district on Sunday morning.

A speeding oil tanker on its way to Karnataka from Tamil Nadu--on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway--collided head-on with a tempo traveler. The tempo traveler had group of pilgrims from Tumakuru district in Karnataka who were on their way to Tirumala.

The driver of the tempo-traveler Vishal Babu (31), Kamakshi (27) and her two year old daughter Ridhya died on the spot. Three others sustained serious injuries.

They were first rushed to a hospital in Chittoor town, but later were shifted to SVIMS in Tirupati for better treatment.

Yadamari police registered a case and took up investigation.
