Ivanka Trump hires Australian fashion stylist Cat William

Ivanka Trump has enlisted the services of Australian fashion stylist Cat Williams to help her dress for her controversial, unspecified new role to her father, US President Donald Trump.

The First Daughter, 35, is working with Williams, a former Vogue Australia fashion associate and Harper's Bazaar fashion assistant, who is now based in New York.

Williams attended Abbotsleigh, a private all girls school on the Upper North Shore of Sydney until 2004. She has certificate in fashion business from FBI Fashion College and a bachelors degree in arts from the University of Sydney.

Most recently, she has worked with top Hollywood fashion stylist Micaela Erlanger, who has the likes of Lupita Nyong'o, Meryl Streep and Michelle Dockery on her books. According to the Hollywood Reporter, she left Erlanger to work for herself.

At Vogue Australia, she worked under its fashion director Christine Centenera, who is Kanye West's Yeezy runway stylist and also pulls looks together his wife, Kim Kardashian West.

Williams is believed to have impressed Trump after she worked with Erlanger to mastermind her red crepe jumpsuit with a cape by Ralph Lauren for the 2016 Met Gala.

Since moving from New York to Washington, D.C, Trump has been opting for an All-American look in bold, colour bocks to help her transform from businesswoman and socialite to one of the most influential people to the President.

She has been catching the eye in conservative, designer, Jackie Kennedy-esque ensembles, such as her emerald green waterfall coat and dress and white asymmetrical jacket and trousers both by Oscar de la Renta for the inauguration weekend.

While her fuschia shift dress by Roland Mouret for the President's joint address to congress last month was a little more daring than usual, showing off one shoulder.

Despite the designer names, Trump still seems to prefer outfits and accessories from her eponymous, 10-year-old label, Ivanka Trump, that she has said she will be stepping back from while she becomes an increasingly prominent political force in her father's administration.

Loving the boost to her fashion profile, Trump regularly documents her looks on her Instagram from the West Wing - where she has been given an office.

It's common for First Ladies to have stylists.

Michelle Obama worked with Meredith Koop and Ikram Goldman, while Melania Trump is said to have an ongoing relationship with former Carolina Herrera creative director Herve Pierre, who was behind her sculptural white, off-the-shoulder inauguration gown.

It's an unusual for a First Daughter to enlist such services, but the Trumps are not your average First Family.
