Kentucky fans trying to recover from a gut-wrenching final-second loss to North Carolina on Sunday had to hit the reset button on Monday morning when they checked their phones.

Just hours after Luke Maye hit the dagger to crush the hopes of Big Blue Nation, former Duke star Christian Laettner jumped on Twitter to praise the Tar Heel hero -- and troll Kentucky all in one fell swoop.

The tweet, which mentions the number 32 -- a number he and Maye ironically share -- of course references the jersey number Laettner wore in college when he knocked off Kentucky in the final seconds with a now-iconic fadeaway jumper.

He didn’t leave it at that. Laettner threw in the hashtags #uncdownsthecats and #theshotlives for good measure.

Laettner’s shot, which took place almost 25 years ago, is a replay shown nearly every year of one of the most epic finishes in the history of the NCAA Tournament. “The shot,” as many refer to it, sent Duke to the Final Four and broke the hearts of Kentucky fans, similar to what Maye did on Sunday.

As if Kentucky needed another shot to have nightmares about.
