Urban League Of Metropolitan Seattle To Host Its Inaugural Annual Meeting

Pamela L. Banks
The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle is will host its Inaugural Annual Meeting at the Northwest African American Museum on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 8:30am. The goal of this meeting is to present to the community the State of the Urban League and release their Annual Report, share the work the organization is currently doing, as well as future plans. In addition, there will be time to receive feedback from the community.

Pamela Banks accepted the position of President and CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle in June of 2012. Since then, the Urban League has witnessed tremendous growth. At the close of their fiscal year, June 30, 2016, they are in a very strong financial position. In the last 5 years the organization has grown from an operating budget of around $400,000 to now approaching $3 million. More importantly, thousands have been served in the areas of workforce development, education and housing through enhanced programming, strong community collaborations, and engaging supportive services.

“The tremendous growth of the organization is exciting,” says Pamela Banks, President and CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, “but the power of the Urban League is not just who is at the helm, but the community, staff, and board members who invest in the mission of the organization is why we thrive and to continue to do so for years to come.”

This is the first time the Urban League has held a community meeting in this capacity since Ms. Banks has served as CEO. “My first priority was getting back to the basics, ensuring that our programs and people were strong,” says Banks, “now it is important that our story is being shared by us and those that support our work to ensure that those that need the support of the Urban League, know what we do, how we do it, and where to find us.” This meeting will be held annually at the completion of the external audit of their financial records.
