BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday asked the Health and Family Welfare Department to fill up vacant posts of doctor and paramedical staff in Nabarangpur district.

As part of his special focus on development programme undertaken in four tribal-dominated districts of Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Kandhamal, the CM reviewed the progress of implementation of different programmes in Nabarangpur.

The CM emphasised on construction of special service apartments for medical staff in the district.
Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi said the CM directed to run at least 100 digital dispensaries in the district to provide health service free of cost to people living in far flung areas. He further directed the department to organise health camps in remote areas where people do not have access to health service.

There has been a significant development as more doctors have joined in the district which was facing acute shortage before the launch of special development programme by the CM, Majhi said.

The CM also reviewed the progress of irrigation for which the State Government has decided to provide `364 crore to create irrigation potential for 35 per cent of cultivable land in the tribal-dominated backward district.

While 2,157 deep bore wells have been energised, the Water Resources Department has renovated 28 medium and 47 small irrigation projects, Majhi said.

The CM also reviewed the rural electrification, construction of roads and development of railway infrastructure in the district.
