PRESIDING BISHOP TO VISIT ABILENE
Michael Curry, presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States, will be in Abilene on April 8-9 for a series of events.

Curry, whose office is in New York City, will visit two parishes in the Diocese of Northwest Texas — Heavenly Rest in Abilene and St. Andrew’s in Amarillo. The presiding bishop will attend several events here that are open to the public April 9, beginning with blessing the cornerstone for Gerhart Hall at Heavenly Rest and officiate over the Liturgy of the Palms. Overflow seating will be available in the parish hall.

An open house for laity of the diocese, which stretches from the Panhandle to San Angelo and westward to the Midland/Odessa area, will be held 3:30-5 p.m. A town hall-style meeting will be held in the church nave at 5 p.m. Dinner will follow.

Curry will leave April 10 for Amarillo.

HSU HOSTS MASTON LECTURES
The 17th annual T.B. Maston Lectures in Christian Ethics will be held Monday and Tuesday at Hardin-Simmons University. The public is invited to the free lectures.

Guest speaker will be Jeph Holloway, a religion professor at East Texas Baptist University. Overall theme for the lectures is “What’s to Become of Us: Christian Hope in a Posthuman World.” Monday’s lecture, titled “The Rise of the Manchine,” will begin at 7 p.m. in Logsdon Chapel. Tuesday’s lecture, titled “Sharing in God’s Triump,” will be at 9:30 a.m. in Behrens Auditorium. 

SPRING INTO B.O.B.S.
First Christian Church is conducting a "Spring into Breakfast on Beech Street" fundraiser through April 30 to benefit Breakfast on Beech Street or B.O.B.S.

The feeding ministry, which is supported by six Abilene congregations, is held in First Christian’s fellowship hall. Volunteers serve a free hot breakfast to all who come Mondays through Fridays, and also provide a sack lunch to go. Donations can be sent to either B.O.B.S., P.O.
