10 freedom fighters from Bhojpur to be felicitated

ARA: They fought for the country to get freedom from British rule without bothering about life and hardships. However, this time they will not have to fight against the scorching summer heat when they travel on Monday to Patna where to be felicitated for their exemplary courage and dedication for their motherland on the occasion of centenary celebrations of Champaran Satyagrah.
Total 10 freedom fighters and 3 family members of the freedom fighters from Bhojpur will be felicitated at the SK Memorial Hall in Patna on Monday as part of the Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagrah centenary celebrations to be attended by President Pranab Mukherjee, Union home minister Rajnath Singh, chief minister Nitish Kumar and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
District public relations officer Shambhu Nath Jha said airconditioned vehicles will be provided to the freedom fighters for travelling to Patna and their return journey to Ara.
“District magistrate Birendra Prasad Yadav has asked the civil surgeon to constitute a medical team that will include doctors and paramedical staff and have life-saving drugs with them. An ambulance will follow the freedom fighters’ vehicles to cope with any emergency situation,” said Jha.
The DPRO said in case any freedom fighter is not able to participate in the event due to age-related problems, he would be felicitated at his home. ADM Surendra Prasad and DCLR Kumar Rabindra will monitor the entire programme.
