Helped by useful spread of rains, tea production in the Nilgiris, was higher in March. Tea companies have reported to Tea Board that their production in March rose to 1.35 million kg (mkg) from 1.01 mkg in March 2016. This increase of 0.34 mkg marked an impressive growth of 33.66 per cent. The five-year mean for the month was 1.15 mkg.
