PATNA: The BJP has started working on a plan to “saffronize” Kishanganj and its three other adjoining districts for its two-day state executive committee meeting at Kishanganj from May 2.
It will be the first state executive committee meet after after its state president Nityanand Rai reconstituted the state executive committee following his elevation to the post last year.

“We are working round the clock to make the meet a success. Our aim is to saffronize not only Kishanganj, but also Purnia, Katihar and Araria districts,” said party’s Purnia (town) MLA Vijay Kumar Khemka.
Khemka, along with party’s Forbesganj MLA Vidyasagar Keshri was at the state BJP HQ to coordinate the activities for the meet. Party’s state co-general secretary (organisation) Shiv Narain, who hails from Raniganj in Araria, said he has already visited the area to gear up the party’s rank and file.
Party’s state general secretary Rajendra Singh said the whole-time workers have already been activated. The state functionaries have to address district and block-level meetings in the state by May 20 as part of the yearlong Deendayal Upadhyaya birth centenary celebration. “All the four ‘seemanchal’ districts of the state will also be covered,” Singh added.
The BJP’s stakes in the four districts are high as they have impressive presence of the Muslim minority. The party lost all the four parliamentary seats in the region in 2014. Its sitting seat Purnia was won by the JD(U) and Katihar by the Nationalist Congress Party while the Congress retained Kishanganj and the RJD won Araria.
The RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Paishad has been raising the issue of “Bangla infiltration” in the area for quite some time.
