A Wishaw thug has been found guilty of seriously assaulting a man in a Shotts street.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court, a jury unanimously found Christopher Duffy guilty of all four charges against him which related to an incident in Brown Street, Shotts, on September 3 last year.

Duffy, 37, repeatedly kicked, punched and stamped on Alan Gardner’s head and body while he was unconscious on the ground, which resulted in his severe injury and impairment.

While in Brown Street on September 3, Duffy, of Berrydale Quadrant, also shouted, swore, uttered threats and brandished a baseball bat.

He then behaved in a threatening manner by shouting, swearing and making threats as well as resisting two police officers and after being arrested and struggling with the police prior to being placed in the police vehicle.

Sheriff Ray Small deferred sentence on Duffy until June 2 and a range of reports were called for.

Duffy’s bail was continued in the meantime.
