The Shomron regional council has decided to "adopt" a fallen soldier from the War of Independence who has no family to commemorate him. Baruch Mizrachi was a fighter in the Etzel who was born as a Muslim and converted after he joined the Betar movement. After he was exiled to Eritrea by the British and severely wounded, Mizrachi returned and was killed during an operation near Jenin. The Shomron regional council succeeded in getting Mizrachi recognized as an IDF fallen soldier.
