Maoists gun down 2 persons in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Bhubaneswar: A week after killing a youth at Pedaitiki village under Narayanpatna block in Koraput district, suspected Maoists on Thursday gunned down two persons suspecting them to be police informers at Sudhakanda village under Kalimela block in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, - police said on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Bisu Kisani and Ram Padiami.

According to reports, over 20 Maoists came to the village at around 12 am and dragged the duo outside from their houses.

The two were later shot dead by the extremists, who alleged that the former were working as police informers.

On April 21 night, the rebels had killed Pidika Ratnu of Pedaitiki village suspecting him to be a police informer. Over 20 rebels had barged into the deceased’s house, dragged him outside and murdered him by slitting his throat at a nearby forest.

The rebels have killed as many as seven persons this year in Koraput and Malkangiri districts branding them as police informers.
