BHUBANESWAR:  Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today asked the panchayat representatives of the BJD to work for the people and concentrate on the development of villages.

The chief minister reviewed the BJD's panchayat poll performance in Bhadrak district where the party won 24 out of the 28 Zilla Parishad zones while four went to the kitty of the BJP.

Panchayat representatives raised the issues of delay in completion of construction of embankment and bridges on Salandi river and the Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC) list. They alleged that houses Biju Pucca Ghar and Awas Yojana selected on the basis of SECC list were not reaching the true beneficiaries.

The chief minister assured the panchayat representatives that issues raised by them will be resolved soon. Minister of state for panchayatiraj Arun Sahu said the Centre has been requested to correct the discrepancies in the SECC list.

BJD vice-president Suryanarayan Patro, revenue and disaster management minister Bijoyshree Routray, Bhadrak MP Arjun Charan Sethi, party MLAs Jugal Kishore Patnaik, Prafulla Samal and Byomakesh Ray, 
state executive member Bijay Nayak and senior leaders were present.
