Bajrang Dal leader arrested in Bhadrak for inciting communal violence

BHADRAK: A Leader of Bajrang Dal was arrested by Bhadrak Town Police on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in inciting communal tension in the town 25 days back. He is Manas Mohanty, State secretary of Bajrang Dal.

He was arrested from his residence at bypass under Bhadrak police limits. Police zeroed in on Mohanty after examining CCTV footages. Bikas Sresthha, district secretary of BJP Yova Morcha was arrested on the  same ground from his Kuansha residence on Sunday. Police have so far arrested 275 people who are allegedly involved in the communal violence. Hundred-odd police complaints have been been lodged by the riot victims till Sunday. Manoj Rout, one of the prime accused in the communal violence case, is still at large. Police are on the lookout for more rioters. Normalcy has been limping back in Bhadrak town but many are absconding apprehending arrest. Curfew has been relaxed in the town from 5 am to 10 pm.
Bhadrak SP Anup Sahoo said the situation is being closely monitored and if peace prevails, curfew will be lifted soon. Discussions between leaders of both the religious communities are on.
