Ramakrishna Reddy who went to Dubai for work, returned home recently. He used to pester his wife to bring more money and property from her parents, despite owning 10 acres of farm land.

Following a quarrel with her husband, Vijayasri went to her parents’ house at Rajayyapalem in Rajanagaram mandal on April 28. After pacifying Vijayasri, they sent her back to Juttiga. Ramakrishna Reddy had a quarrel with her again on May 1. Vijayasri’s parents took the issue to the notice of the community elders who reprimanded him for harassing his wife.

The irate Ramakrishna Reddy who returned home in an inebriated condition on Tuesday night, hit Vijayasri repeatedly on the head with a hammer while she was asleep and fled.

Neighbours who found her lying in a pool of blood in the house on Wednesday morning, informed the matter to the Village Revenue Officer, who in turn called Penumantra police. Penugonda CI Ch Rama Rao and Penumantra SI GJ Prasad visited Juttiga. After conducting the inquest, the body was sent to Tanuku government hospital for postmortem. A case was registered.
