Kishan detained in Khammam

The Khammam police today detained BJLP leader G Kishan Reddy when he tried to visit the mirchi market yard along with party workers here.

Kishan Reddy reached Khammam on Thursday evening and stayed at local hotel in the night to visit market yard in the context of mirchi farmers’ attack on market yard on April 28. In the morning, Kishan Reddy tried to visit the market yard and tried to go in a rally, but the police arrested him. The police shifted him to Khammam rural police station. Khammam rural DSP Ganesh said they detained him as a precautionary measure as ban order was in force in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Kishan Reddy alleged that both Telugu States failed in extending helping hand to the mirchi farmers. He alleged that the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao did not spend a single rupee for the sake of mirchi farmers. Stating that the Centre was paying Rs.6,250 per quintal to mirchi farmers, Kishan Reddy demanded that the State government pay Rs. 3,000 additionally to help the farmers.

BJP Khammam district president Uday Prathap, Kondapally Sridhar Reddy, Kisan Morcha leader Gutha Venkateshwarlu, Dongala Sathyanarayana and other local leaders accompanied Kishan Reddy. (NSS)
