Gas leak caused Ananda Aqua unit mishap in Eluru: Forensic report

According to the forensic report, the deaths occurred due to the leak of ammonia and hydrogen sulphide gases in the effluents sump.

ELURU: After one month of the mishap at Ananda Aqua processing unit at Nallamvarithota in Mogalthur mandal in which five workers died due to asphyxiation in the effluents sump, the forensic report has reached Narsapur government hospital from Hyderabad.


It may be recalled here that Boddu Rambabu (20) of Metturevu, Nalla Yedukondalu (22) of Nallamvarithota,  Eda Yedukondalu (25) of Sitarampuram, Jakkamsetti Praveen (22) of Kalipatnam and Thota Srinu (25) of Kattukalva lost their lives while cleaning the effluents sump at the aqua processing unit on March 30.

According to the preliminary inquiry, the deaths occurred due to asphyxiation following ammonia gas leak. According to the forensic report, the deaths occurred due to the leak of ammonia and hydrogen sulphide gases in the effluents sump. 


Dr Trimurthulu, Superintendent of Narsapur government hospital, said the forensic report confirmed the leak of poisonous gases which resulted in the death of five workers due to asphyxiation. 


Narsapur DSP G Poornachandra Rao said they would initiate action in the mishap case based on the forensic report after completing legal formalities.
