Father-son duo killed as SUV rams parked lorry in Srikakulam

 In a tragic incident, a 55-year-old man and his 26-year-old son died as the SUV they were travelling in hit a parked lorry at Kottapeta in Srikakulam district on the NH-16 on Saturday morning. 

SRIKAKULAM: In a tragic incident, a 55-year-old man and his 26-year-old son died as the SUV they were travelling in hit a parked lorry at Kottapeta in Srikakulam district on the NH-16 on Saturday morning. 


The deceased have been identified as Bandi Satyam and his son Bandi Venkata Rao, both  residents of Pogiri village of Rajam mandal. According to Kotabommali SI Narayana Murthy, a mango laden SUV with the father-son duo on board was on its way from Pogiri to Brahmapur in Odisha.  


The SUV rammed into a lorry parked on the roadside near the Kottapeta petrol pump at around 10.30 am, after the driver lost control over the wheels.

Police shifted the injured to a hospital through 108 ambulance services. The doctors declared Bandi Satyam and his son brought dead. The SUV driver Shiba Prasad Purohit, hailing from Brahmapur, escaped with minor injuries. A case has been registered.
