Nine ryots get bail in one of three Khammam market yard cases in Telangana

The farmers, accused of vandalising the market yard’s office, will remain in custody; Revanth Reddy to protest in their support; BJP president held in Warangal

KHAMMAM: In a significant development the nine  farmers, who were arrested in  Khammam market yard ransacking incident that took place on April 28,  were granted bail by a local court on Monday in one case out of the three booked against them. However, they will remain behind bars as they are facing two more cases.

Police booked cases against 10 persons including TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, who is absconding in the market yard ransacking case. The farmers got bail in 92/2017 case and in case number 90/2017 ad 91/2017 they could not secured bail.

Later, speaking to mediapersons on Monday, farmer’s advocate G Sampath Kumar said he will move to the court for bail in the rest of the two cases. “I have completed the process of filling application for bail. The matter will come for hearing in two to three days.

I am sure that farmers will be given bail soon,” he said. TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who was present at the court, described the judgement as the victory of the farmers and said that his party will not rest until the farmers come out of the jail and the cases filled against them are not withdrawn. “We will continue our fight through party’s legal cell. We will see to that all the cases are withdrawn,” he said.

Congress slams TRS govt
Coming down heavily on TRS government, the senior Congress leader accused the government of filing false cases against the farmers. “Government had filed false cases against farmers to create fear among them. It wants to crush the voices of the farmers. People will teach lesson to the ruling TRS,” he said.

Meanwhile, Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy, is preparing to stage dharna in support of  farmers on May 12 and 13 in Khammam.

K Laxman, BJP leaders held for entering Enumamula market
WARANGAL: Continuing restriction on prohibiting non-farmers from entering Enumamula Market Yard, the police on Monday arrested BJP state president K Laxman and scores of other leaders who tried to get into the market amid high drama and protest. Laxman, who reached the market yard along with former MLAs to interact with farmers were stopped by the police at Balajinagar gate and were asked to leave the premises.

But the leaders started marching towards the market yard. Police initially maintained restrain and tried to convince them not to create trouble. Senior police officers talked to Laxman and urged him to leave the place as the district administration has asked not to allow people other than farmers inside the market yard. Enraged over the attitude of the police, the BJP started shouting anti-government slogans and pushed security personnel. Then, the police arrested Laxman and other leaders and shifted them to Mill colony police station and released them later.
