Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Christians to serve together at Bada Mangal Bhandara in Lucknow

Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Christians to serve together at Bada Mangal Bhandara in Lucknow
The Bada Mangal is unique to Naya Hanuman Mandir, but over the years it is being celebrated in all Hanuman Temples in and around Lucknow.
LUCKNOW: After organising joint Shia-Sunni namaz in the city on the occasion of Bakrid to ease off communal tensions between the two communities, Lucknow will re-create history on Tuesday when an all religion Bada Mangal Bhandara will be organised.
Keeping in tune with the city's traditions and placing humanity above religious affiliations, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Christians will all be part of the Bhandara serving and reaching out to people of all faiths.
To be organised by Shoulder to Shoulder (S2S) - the citizen driven initiative that works for communal harmony - the effort has previously seen Muslims serving langar at Gurudwara and a roza iftar organised by the Sikhs among other such events for peace.
"Volunteers of all religions, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and even other faiths will be coming together to serve the devotees. Even the contribution for the day has come in from people of all faiths and this is what our cultural tehzeeb in Lucknow has been," said Asif Khan, member, S2S. To begin from 10 am the bhandara will be organised outside the Oudh Gymkhana Club in Qaiserbagh, serving relishing puri-sabzi and ladoos. "The idea is to bring people closer sans prejudices so the bhandara is open to all even as volunteers," he added.
Started two years ago as a group of like-minded people who got together to improve Shia-Sunni relations, the platform buoyed into fostering communal harmony and facilitating inter-religion exchange after the joint namaz.
