AP must cooperate for joint Railway projects: Tummala

Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao today asked the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh to come forward to take up land acquisition and construction of railway projects as major chunk of the two lanes of Sathupally- Kovvur and Sathupally and Kondapally lie in their state. Telangana State will speed up the related works if the Andhra Pradesh Government expedites the works under its jurisdiction, the minister said.

Tummala instructed the officials to speed up the railway works in the State as well as that of those connecting the neighbouring States. He held a high level review meeting on the progress of Bhadrachalam-Sathupally-Kovvur railway lanes.  At the coal belt area, the Railways will bear the cost of land acquisition while the Singareni Collieries management will spend money for construction of railway projects, he said.

A 53.20km stretch in Siingareni Collieries connecting Bhadrachalam with Sathupally needs Rs 704.31 crore. Stating that a total of 500 acres of land will be acquired for the railway projects, he said of 166.25 km land to be acquired about 36 km length railway lane will come up in Kothagudem and 17.3 km in Khammam district. He enquired with the Collector about the progress of land plan schedule sent by Railways for the railway project in Kothagudem district.

The minister asked the officials to coordinate for expeditious completion of land acquisition. He enquired about the land acquisition works for Bhadrachalam Road, Sathupalli railway lane and asked the Collector of Kothagudem Bhadradri district on the works of land acquisition for railway works. “The officials should prepare modules of railway lanes being planned from Bhadracahlam- Sathupally lane, Bhadrachalam-Sathupally- Kovvur lane.

The minister asked the officials to plan out and complete the works in a speedy manner with less expenditure and sought proposals in the next budget for the railway lanes between Pandurangapuram and Kothagudem. He also asked the officials to take up land acquisition works of Bhadracahlam- Sathupally lane by open marking. (NSS)
