Vendors Setting Up For Tulsa Mayfest, Rain Or Shine

Severe weather over the next couple of days could impact Mayfest. The annual art and music festival starts Thursday in downtown Tulsa.

Mayfest artists and vendors came out early Wednesday morning to start setting up for what's sure to be a busy four days.

"They want something different, unusual and something that they can use too," said artist Dan Finerman about the Mayfest crowds.

Finerman collects old post office box doors and makes them into postal banks. One of his new creations came together when someone told him about some old doors from one of Tulsa's first post offices.

"And he gave me all the history, I got the whole write-up on them and I brought a bunch of them here all finished off," he said.

We caught up with Dan as he was setting up for Mayfest. He was just one of the dozens putting in time and sweat in the middle of downtown Tulsa today.

But organizers say it's always worth it for the vendors.

"Lots of late nights, lots of really early starts to get it all put together, but it always comes together," said Mayfest organizer Heather Pringey.

Our Oklahoma weather experts say there could be strong storms in the forecast during Mayfest, but vendor Dan Finerman said they'll make it work.
  
"Even if we get some rain - and we know we're gonna get some rain for a couple of days - they'll still come out and they'll still buy," he said.

Mayfest lasts through Sunday.
