Woman stabbed to death by son in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia

A 55-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her son in Lakshman Chhapra village in Dokati police station area in Ballia district on Tuesday. An FIR was lodged, while the accused is absconding.

VARANASI: A 55-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her son in Lakshman Chhapra village in Dokati police station area in Ballia district on Tuesday. An FIR was lodged, while the accused is absconding.
According to reports, following some family dispute, a mentally disturbed man, Manoj Singh, attacked his mother Mamta Devi with a knife. He also injured his brother Sanoj Singh when he tried to save her, and fled the scene.

The local residents rushed the injured persons to the community health centre, Sonbarsa, where doctor declared the woman brought dead. The police reached there after getting information and sent the body for postmortem.
The FIR was lodged against Manoj under sections 302 and 324 of the IPC, and a manhunt was launched to nab him. The Dokati SO Vijay Singh told TOI over phone that the accused was given given compulsory retirement from Border Security Force service due to mental illness.
