Four members of family die in suicide pact

 A woman along with her daughter and two grandsons allegedly entered into a suicide pact at Dwarakanagar in the city.

ELURU: A woman along with her daughter and two grandsons allegedly entered into a suicide pact at Dwarakanagar in the city. According to the police, Kethavarapu Venkata Ramana Rao, a retired engineer, is living at Dwarakanagar along with his daughter Addaguduru Naga Padmavathi (52), granddaughter Devarakonda Santoshi Rupa (37) and great grandsons Sai Siddhartha (9) and Sairam (5). Padmavathi’s husband AVSN Murthy who worked as a Railway SI, died a few years ago.  Her daughter Rupa was married to Sridhar, an AGM in a paper mill at Rayagada in Odisha. 


The couple met with a road accident at Palakonda in Srikakulam district on November 14, 2016. Sridhar died in the incident and Rupa went into a coma.  A few months after the mishap, Rupa came out of coma.

Rupa who was not able to forget the tragedy in her life due to the frequent visits of their relatives offering condolences, wanted to shift to Jamshedpur where her aunt is living. When she expressed her wish to shift from Eluru, her grandfather agreed to the proposal.

He went to Jamshedpur on May 15 to rent a house there for their living. In his absence, the two women first administered the soft drink mixed with pesticide and sleeping pills to the two boys and later they consumed it.  Ramana Rao who returned home in the early hours of Thursday, found them dead. The decomposed bodies were shifted to Eluru government hospital for postmortem. A case was registered.
