66 candidates make it to top 10 in Bengal Class ten results

KOLKATA: A whopping 66 candidates have made it to the top 10 of Madhyamik Class X West Bengal board results declared here on Saturday. Anwesha Pyne of Bankura Vivekananda Shiksha Niketan topped the list scoring 690 out of 700 (98.5%).

Anwesha was closely followed by Mozammel Haque of Bankura District School and Anirban Khanra of Ramnagar High School in Hooghly district with a score of 689 (98.4%). Deeptesh Pal of Rampurhat High School came third with 688 (98.2%). Six candidates took the fourth position whereas three came fifth and seven candidates took the sixth position. The seventh position was shared by eight candidates whereas 11 candidates took the eighth position. Eleven candidates came ninth and 16 candidates came tenth.

The total pass percentage stood at 85.93%, which is a 2.91% rise from last year. Purba Medinipur district registered the highest pass percentage at 96.06% and was followed by South 24 Parganas at 90.54%, Kolkata at 88.93% and Nadia at 82.30%.

A total of 10, 61, 123 students took the exams of which 4, 73, 069 were boys and 5, 87, 649 were girls. The number of girls taking the exams was 10.76% higher than the boys. This year’s exam was based on new syllabus and had an entirely new pattern of question paper. Besides several websites, the exam results were available through text messages as well.
