PATNA: Rajat Maloo of Jaipur scored 154.25 out of 196 to top the common law admission test (CLAT)-2017, the results of which were announced in Patna on Monday.
Vihit Ashish Shah of Mumbai stood second and Radhika Sarda of Rajasthan third with 150.25 and 148.25 marks respectively. Radhika has topped among the girls. Sumit Kumar Gupta of Bihar’s Purnia has bagged fourth position, scoring 147.5.
More than 47,000 students wrote the CLAT conducted this year by Chanakya National Law University (CNLU)-Patna.
The test was conducted at 138 centres across the country on May 14 for admissions against 2,000 LLB course seats in 18 national law universities. The first indicative selection list will be published on June 5, said CNLU registrar S P Singh.
National topper Rajat told TOI over the phone from Jaipur he had expected to do well in the admission test, but had not anticipated that he would top.
Asked about his ambition, he said he would take a decision after completing the five-year LLB course. He studied science at plus- two level at Jayshree High School-Jaipur, and his father is a financial advisor in a private company, he said.
Bihar topper Sumit wants to practise corporate law or join the civil services after doing law. He did plus two from Sainik School-Assam and is currently enrolled in BA Part II (political science) in Delhi University. His father is a businessman based in Purnia.
In the test for PG law course, Pranav Tripathi, Swati Verma and Abhishek Sinsinwar, all from UP, bagged the top three positions. They scored 125, 121.5 and 120.25 respectively out of 150 marks. There are 600 seats in PG law course all over the country, said CNLU registrar Singh.
