KOLKATA: The standing committee of the state cabinet has allotted 10 kottahs of land to the Birbhum Zilla Parishad in New Town for them to set up their guest house. The plot is located close to Premashrsya, the guest house of Tata Medical Centre and the plot allotted to Lepcha Board a few months ago in the township, both close to the Biswa Bangla Gate.
Though almost all district administrations have their offices in the city, the Birbhum Zilla Parisad building would be unique in the sense that the shape of the building would be like an Ektara, which is in tune with the Baul tradition of Birbhum.
The authorities will start on work as soon as all the land allotment formalities are completed.
