AGRA: In a third case of failed love affair, a young couple allegedly committed suicide in the remote village of Etah district. The incident took place on Wednesday morning in Gopalpur village of dehat kotwali police jurisdiction area.
Devender Kumar (23) and Krishna Kumar (20) two hailed from two different castes - Lodhi and Kashyap respectively. According to police, the duo were missing since Tuesday evening and were found dead – hanging from a tree.
According to additional superintendent of police Sanjay Kumar, “The two knew each other for a long time, but the parents of the girl married her to another man earlier in the month.
We have recovered their bodies and sent them for post mortem.”
Sher Singh, a relative of the girl, said, “The two liked each other and wanted to live together, but the family members were not ready as the two belonged to a different caste. Moreover, the girl was married to another man earlier in May, so there was no possibility of any kind of relationship.”
According to a local source, the two were in constant contact over the phone, even after the girl got married on May 10.
By the time this report was filed, no FIR was lodged or any written complaint was given to police.
Earlier on Sunday evening, a teenage couple of two different castes committed suicide at Biharipur village of Etmadpur area in Agra, while on May 15 morning a teenage couple jumped in front of a train in Saiyan area. The two also hailed from different castes and wanted to stay together.
