BoI vendor shot in Siwan, Rs50,000 looted

PATNA: Unidentified armed criminals shot Devendra Singh (45), the owner of customer service point of Bank of India, and looted Rs50,000 from him at Chotka Manjha under Mairwan police station area in Siwan district on Friday.
Siwan SP Saurabh Sah said the deceased had gone to the Bank of India branch at Pipra Bazaar, also under the Mairwan police station area, to withdraw money for use at the service point by the villagers.
“He was returning when the criminals intercepted him at a secluded place around 2km from the bank,” the SP said, adding that police were searching for some notorious criminals who had come out of jail on bail just a few days back.
Quoting a senior citizen who was riding pillion on Devendra’s bike, Mairwan police station SHO Poonam Kumari said two criminals with their faces covered intercepted them after shot Devendra dead before fleeing with the money. “Three teams have been formed to nab the criminals,” she said. The deceased was a native of Chotka Manjha village, she said.
