Gonda native from Dubai looted by gang in SUV
Lucknow: A man from Gonda who had come back to celebrate Ramzan/Eid from Dubai was drugged and mugged outside Amausi airport on Saturday evening. Hasan Raja from Dubai had reached Delhi on Saturday morning and took another flight to reach Lucknow around 6pm on Saturday. 25-year-old Hasan, who works for a travel company was looking for a taxi to reach his native village Paraspur when an SUV stopped by and a man got off and offered to take him to Gonda claiming he was from the same district.
Hasanj got into the vehicle and found three others inside. A few metres ahead, the driver stopped pulled over to pick up another passenger who was looking for transport to get out of the airport.
The driver offered to drop him up to the nearest bus stop and once they left the airport and took Shaheed Path to head towards Lucknow–Faizabad highway, the group caught and drugged Hasan with chloroform and dumped him near the Mohanlalganj community health centre.
Two police constables who were patrolling the area found him lying on the roadside and took him to the health centre. When Hasan was conscious again, he found the cash and luggage he was carrying was missing.
Local police informed Sarojininagar police about the incident. Circle officer of Krishnanagar area, DySP Dinesh Kumar Singh said an FIR had been registered. “All the occupants of the car, including the one picked up after Hasan were part of the gang, it appears,” said Singh. Police were scanning the CCTV footage at the airport to trace the SUV.
